Project Description

Every 6 or 7 years the Snowy Owls will come south to the Fraser River Mud Flats looking for food. They come late December and will stay til late February . Steve and I put on warm clothes, packed a light lunch and headed out before dawn early in January to see them.  We arrived in the dark.  With flashlights showing the way,  we headed onto the dykes.  We quickly put our lights away as the owls were right there!! Only a short distance from the dyke.  We watched in awe as the early morning light began to shine. There were owls everywhere.  It was an awesome sight to see their winter whites heads scattered among the dark, wet branches and stumps of the mud flats.  A very special moment for us!!
